My experience with fissure surgery
I would like to share with you my experience with the anal fissure surgery, which I started suffering from quite some time ago. Anal fissure, this medical term that may not be familiar to many, refers to a small tear or crack in the lining of the last part of the rectum, which causes severe pain especially during and after defecation. My experience with this health problem was difficult and painful, but I eventually found the best solution through surgical intervention.
At first, I tried to overcome the symptoms with home remedies and lifestyle changes, such as increasing my fiber and fluid intake to facilitate the bowel movement, but to no avail. I then sought medical advice, who recommended several treatment options, such as topical creams and injections, but all these attempts failed to achieve a complete recovery.
Finally, after consulting several doctors, it was agreed that I should undergo surgery to permanently treat the fissure. It was a difficult decision for me, but I was in a miserable state of pain and fatigue, and I was ready for any solution that would restore my ability to live without pain. The surgery was successful, thanks to God, and thanks to the experience and skill of the medical team that supervised my case. The period following the surgery required rest and careful adherence to the doctor’s instructions to ensure a complete recovery.
Today, after a while after the operation, I feel much better and have returned to my normal life. My experience with the fissure operation taught me the importance of taking care of my health and not ignoring symptoms that may seem simple at first, but may lead to bigger health problems if not treated properly.
I would like to stress the importance of consulting a doctor immediately upon the appearance of any abnormal symptoms, and not relying solely on home remedies that may not be sufficient in many cases. Taking care of health is an invaluable investment, and maintaining it should be a priority for everyone.

Causes of cracks
- Several factors can contribute to the formation of anal fissures, including:
- When stool is dry and hard, it is difficult to pass through the anus.
- Having had surgery in the anal area may also increase the risk of this condition.
- People with congenital abnormalities, such as an enlarged or overly strong anal sphincter, are more likely to develop this type of fissure.
- Also, persistent constipation or chronic diarrhea are considered the main causes of this problem, in addition to excessive pressure and straining during defecation, and lack of blood flow to the anus.
- In addition to the common causes, there are other causes that may not be common but also contribute to the occurrence of anal fissures.
- These causes include infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, syphilis, and herpes, diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis that can increase the risk of developing anal fissures.
- HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases are also associated with increased risks, as are repeated vaginal birth and anal sex.
Steps of the crack operation
In Egypt, laser fissure surgeries are performed with high efficiency due to the excellence of the technical methods used and the skill of the surgeons. The operation is performed according to the following stages:
- The patient is required to lie on his stomach with the anus elevated and the thighs apart.
- The doctor carefully sterilizes the area around the anus to ensure that any possible infections are prevented.
- The doctor chooses the appropriate type of anesthesia, whether local or general, based on the patient's condition and medical assessment.
- The doctor inserts the laser device through the anus until it reaches the affected area.
- A laser is used to make a tiny incision that allows tension in the anal sphincter muscles to be relieved.
- This step helps the crack heal faster.
- After the procedure is completed, the patient is transferred to the recovery room where doctors monitor his condition and recovery.
Advantages of laser fissure surgery
Some people may be concerned about undergoing laser anal fissure surgery, due to negative impressions left by traditional surgeries on others, but laser technology offers many advantages, including:
- The procedure is smooth and easy.
The chances of anal fissures recurring after treatment are reduced.
– The tissues surrounding the treatment area and the sphincter muscle remain unharmed.
– The treatment does not require the installation of a surgical wick following the operation.
The patient may feel some mild pain after the procedure.
The patient can return home quickly.
The recovery period usually takes about two weeks, but it may extend to six weeks in certain cases. In comparison, the recovery period after traditional surgery may extend to 12 weeks.
The procedure does not result in any scars, as there is no need to make surgical incisions.
This technique offers an effective option for those considering alternative solutions to traditional surgery, as it provides high efficiency and fewer side effects.
Disadvantages of laser fissure surgery
Although laser treatment for fissures is effective, this type of treatment, like other medical procedures, may be accompanied by some risks. These risks include the following:
1. The patient may be at risk of infection.
2. Bleeding may occur after the procedure, which requires special care.
3. The patient may face difficulties in the defecation process.
4. In some cases, the patient may suffer from urinary incontinence.
5. In rare cases, persistent discharge and incomplete healing of the wound may cause an abscess or fistula to form.
6. Pain during bowel movements can force the patient to avoid defecation, which further complicates the situation.
It is important to be aware of these risks and discuss them with your doctor to determine the best treatment option.
